The tradition of gifting luck tokens on a wedding day comes from an Old English rhyme "Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe". A bride traditionally adds something to represent each something to her wedding outfit or carries with her on the big day as good luck charms.

These charms are tokens of love your mother, sister, best friends or another relative will gift the bride on her wedding day. Something old represents continuity; something new offers optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness; something blue stands for purity, love, and fidelity; and a sixpence in your shoe was a wish for good fortune and prosperity.

We have taken an Irish twist on this tradition this to our wedding pin.
